We are pleased to share that 20,000 Thai students from 38 Rajabhat Universities will train and certify with ICDL under a new digital literacy project led by Rajabhat Suan Sunandha University, and fully-sponsored by the Digital Economy and Society Development Fund of the Office of National Digital Economy and Society Commission, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.

Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES), Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, stated at the announcement of the results of the projects approved and sponsored by the Digital Economy and Society Development Fund Fiscal Year 2021 that,
“The Digital Literacy project is aimed to develop a digital skills development model for both basic digital workforce skills and advanced digital professional skills to upgrade the potential of digital personnel within the Education sector. The project will include both the students and personnel of Rajabhat Universities across the country.
This project meets the goals of the Digital Economy Development Fund covering digital skills developments across the country ensuring that the country’s digital development will not be concentrated in the main cities. but will extend down to the local level. This approved project is also a model that can be extended for further development which is an important driving force in the development of innovation and digital technology to drive the country towards becoming “Digital Thailand” to the full extent.”
Starting in January 2022, the first cohort of 1,500 university students took the ICDL Application Essentials module which prepares students for the workplace with essential digital skills recognised by employers worldwide.
Students learn the main concepts and skills needed to start using common office productivity applications — documents, spreadsheets, and presentations — effectively.
Recognising the importance of supporting educators in their use of ICT in teaching, 625 Thai teachers will also benefit from this project.
They will undergo a series of ICDL modules as part of their professional development, including Computer & Online Essentials, Application Essentials, Online Collaboration, and ICT in Education.
These educators will learn effective strategies, gain a deeper understanding of digital tools, and feel confident in the use of ICT to enhance teaching, learning and assessment in the classroom.

We have received positive responses from educators who attended our teacher training course.
“I think this project should be expanded to develop Thai people into Digital Citizens according to the national Digital Economy and Society Development policy. This project can create many opportunities for Thais in the future”.

We aim to complete the training and certification of all students and teachers by September 2022.
We look forward to our ongoing partnership with Rajabhat Universities and the Office of National Digital Economy and Society Commission, Ministry of Digital Economy & Society. Thailand to support more students and teachers in Thailand to be ICDL certified.
