China, 10 December 2023 – Jiangsu Xishan Secondary Specialised School has officially partnered with ICDL to implement the globally recognised digital skills certification programme in Wuxi. A signing ceremony and plaque unveiling event were held at Wuxi Xizhou Garden Hotel to mark this significant milestone.
The ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Ms. Bao Haiyan, Deputy District Chief of Xishan District People’s Government, Mr. Fan Zhong, Deputy Director of Xishan District Education Bureau, Mr. Wang Zhaoyu, Deputy Director of Xishan District Education Bureau, Mr. Qian Xiang, Secretary of the Party General Branch of Jiangsu Xishan Secondary Specialised School and Mr. Ru Hong, Vice Principal of Jiangsu Xishan Secondary Specialised School. Representing ICDL were Ms. Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia, Mr. Lan Xiaoyu, General Manager of ICDL China, Mr. Xu Shuqing, Chief Expert; Mr. Gan Qiang, Technical Director; and Mr. Liu Tingyu, Training Department Director.
Through this collaboration, Jiangsu Xishan Secondary Specialised School has been designated as the “ICDL China Authorised Base School for the Wuxi Region.” The partnership aims to advance digital skills education in the region and align students’ capabilities with international standards.
Mr. Fan Zhong, Deputy Director of Xishan District Education Bureau, applauded the partnership and emphasised its pivotal role in strengthening vocational education in Wuxi. He encouraged the school to fully leverage ICDL expertise and resources to nurture future industry-ready digital talent.
Ms. Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia, underscored the importance of equipping students with globally recognised digital competencies. “Introducing ICDL certification empowers students to meet international standards and prepares them for careers in the digital economy. This collaboration is a crucial step toward building a digitally skilled workforce with a global perspective,” she stated.
Mr. Lan Xiaoyu, General Manager of ICDL China, elaborated on ICDL mission in the country: “Our goal is to provide internationally recognised certification programs that address the evolving needs of educators and learners. Through this partnership, a comprehensive ICDL programme will be integrated into the school’s academic curriculum, enabling students to obtain globally recognised digital literacy certifications. Additionally, ICDL China will also deliver tailored training programs for teachers, equipping them with the skills needed to deliver high-quality digital education and foster hands-on learning experiences for students.
The ceremony concluded with a formal signing and plaque unveiling by Mr. Qian Xiang, Secretary of the Party General Branch of Jiangsu Xishan Secondary Specialised School and Mr. Lan Xiaoyu, General Manager of ICDL China, witnessed by Ms. Bao Haiyan, Deputy District Chief of Xishan District People’s Government, and Ms. Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia along with other attendees.
The collaboration reaffirms ICDL commitment in promoting digital literacy and supporting schools and institutions in delivering education that meets international standards. About Jiangsu Xishan Secondary Specialised School
Jiangsu Xishan Secondary Specialised School, located in Dongbeitang Street, Xishan District, Wuxi City, was established in 1981. In 2013, the school was recognised as a four-star vocational school and a high-level demonstration vocational school in Jiangsu Province. By 2015, it became an operating centre for Jiangsu United Vocational and Technical College.
