Building on the strong momentum of previous editions, Johor Digital Literacy Day (JDLD) 2025 will return from 20-21 June at the University of Southampton Malaysia campus in Iskandar Puteri, Johor. Jointly organised by D.E.W. Technology and ICDL Asia, JDLD 2025 continues its mission to promote digital awareness and support upskilling efforts among Johor’s future leaders and workforce.
We are delighted to welcome AirTrunk as the Main Sponsor of JDLD 2025. AirTrunk is a leading hyperscale data centre specialist delivering essential infrastructure to scale Asia-Pacific & Japan’s digital future, accelerated by cloud and artificial intelligence.
With the theme “AI for All: Your Launchpad to the Future”, this year’s edition is dedicated to equipping youth talent with practical artificial intelligence (AI) skills while creating pathways to real-world employability. Beyond student participation, JDLD 2025 will bring together educators, industry experts, and key stakeholders from Johor and beyond, strengthening the foundation for a comprehensive digital talent ecosystem in the region.
JDLD 2025 Competition: AI Chatbot Development and Digital Skills Challenge
An exciting highlight of JDLD 2025 is the digital student competition, inviting secondary and tertiary students from across Malaysia and the region to showcase their digital skills. Schools, colleges, and universities are welcome to register an unlimited number of participants.
Participants will compete across two key components designed to nurture practical, future-ready skills:
- AI Chatbot Development (70%)
Students will learn to build and deploy no-code AI chatbots powered by large language models (LLMs). With access to sample data and practice materials beforehand, participants will be required to build their chatbots according to the actual data and objectives provided during JDLD 2025. The competition will then culminate in a live presentation, where students will showcase their innovations to a panel of expert judges.
- ICDL Asia Digital Challenge (30%)
Participants will also be required to demonstrate their digital proficiency by completing the following ICDL modules:
Secondary level students: Application Essentials
Tertiary level students: Spreadsheets
Upon passing the certification test for the respective module, participants will receive the internationally recognised ICDL certification.

Workshops & Forum in Empowering Employability and Successful Innovation
Beyond the student competition, JDLD 2025 will also feature a dynamic series of workshops and sharing sessions designed for educators, industry professionals, and the wider community.
Digital Skills Workshop
The University of Southampton Malaysia will deliver an exclusive workshop on prompt engineering and AI chatbot development. Open to all non-competition delegates, this session offers valuable insights into emerging technologies and practical skills for real-world application.
Forum: Digital Skills for Employability
Featuring experts from academia and industry, this forum will address the evolving digital skills landscape and examine how future-ready competencies are driving employability and innovation across different sectors. Delegates will gain fresh perspectives and actionable insights on how digital skills are transforming tomorrow’s workforce and shaping the digital economy.
International University Campus Experience
Participants will also enjoy a guided tour of the University of Southampton Malaysia campus in Iskandar Puteri, offering first-hand exposure to its vibrant learning environment and cutting-edge facilities.
JDLD 2025 continues to serve as an important platform for nurturing AI and digital skills among students, while uniting educators, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to build Johor’s future-ready workforce.
Whether you are a student eager to explore emerging technologies, an educator committed to advancing digital literacy, or an organisation looking to connect with rising talent in the region, JDLD 2025 welcomes you by offering meaningful opportunities to connect, network, and grow.
