We are pleased to announce that NEN for Information Tech, part of the National Education Network (NEN) – a provider of professional training services and international examinations across 29 countries – has officially joined ICDL Asia as our first Accredited Test Centre (ATC) in Uzbekistan, marking a significant step forward in our shared mission to enhance digital capabilities and establish globally recognised certification standards.
This strategic collaboration between ICDL Asia and NEN represents a major milestone in NEN’s ongoing efforts to expand digital literacy and equip individuals with essential digital skills across its network of centres in Uzbekistan, including cities such as Tashkent, Namangan, Nukus, and Margilan. These efforts align with the demands of a 21st century, knowledge-based economy, as part of the country’s ambitious “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy.
According to Dr Tamer Younis, Chief Executive Officer of NEN, “ICDL is a strategic component of our digital development roadmap. At NEN, we believe digital skills are fundamental to success in today’s world. This certification enables learners to unlock new opportunities with confidence.”
Designed to address the digital competence needs of various sectors — particularly education, public administration, and information technology, ICDL programmes offer a comprehensive range of core and professional modules. Recognised globally, ICDL sets the benchmark for digital competence standards.
Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Eng. Nodira Vakhidova, Regional Director of NEN Uzbekistan, noted that “Digital skills are no longer optional — they are essential for both personal and professional development. Through ICDL programmes, we aim to bridge the digital skills gap and enable learners to compete confidently in a fast-paced world.”
Maria Malkevich, Country Manager of NEN Uzbekistan, added that by integrating ICDL into their offerings, “we are bridging the gap between knowledge and application — between education and real-world relevance.”
The structural implementation of ICDL across NEN’s network will include targeted awareness campaigns, onboarding of training centres, and the certification of instructors to ensure high quality and consistency in programme delivery.
This partnership underlines ICDL Asia’s mission to empower individuals and organisations with globally recognised digital certifications. By working closely with NEN, we aim to further expand access to ICDL programmes across Uzbekistan, thus fostering digital competence, enabling career progression, and contributing to local and national digital transformation efforts.
