Financial Institutions Training Institute (FITI) Partners with ICDL to Advance Digital Literacy in Bhutan

Bhutan, 16 July 2025 – ICDL Asia is proud to welcome the Financial Institutions Training Institute Ltd. (FITI) as the country’s newest ICDL Accredited Test Centre. This strategic partnership marks a new milestone in our ongoing commitment to expanding access to internationally recognised digital skills certification in Bhutan, in support of the nation’s broader digital transformation journey.

Established in 2011 by the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan, in collaboration with the Financial Institutions Association of Bhutan (FIAB), FITI has long been a cornerstone of professional training and capacity-building in the country. Initially focused on developing and training human resources for Bhutan’s financial sector, FITI has since expanded its role to offer tailored training programmes for corporate agencies, private organisations, and professionals across various industries. By integrating ICDL digital skills certification programmes into its offerings, FITI reaffirms its commitment to equipping individuals with the essential digital competencies required in today’s rapidly evolving world.

At the signing ceremony, Kinley Gyeltshen, CEO of FITI, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We look forward to collaborating with ICDL to successfully implement this noble and much-needed digital skilling initiative. This certification will empower Bhutanese learners to thrive in local and global opportunities.”

Pushpa Chhetri, Director of Bodhi Media and Communication Institute (BMCI) – ICDL Local Programme Partner in Bhutan added, “We welcome FITI as an ICDL partner and are excited to work together to provide Bhutanese students and professionals with internationally recognised digital certifications. This initiative will bridge skill gaps and prepare individuals to excel in an increasingly digital economy.”

ICDL digital skills certifications offered through FITI will serve as a valuable asset for students seeking higher education abroad, professionals aiming to enhance their employability, and individuals pursuing opportunities overseas. ICDL certifications are recognised across government, private, corporate, civil society, and education sectors, ensuring that learners meet globally benchmarked standards in digital literacy.

ICDL digital skills certifications offered through FITI will provide a strong advantage for Bhutanese students planning to study abroad, or professionals looking to boost their career prospects, and individuals exploring opportunities overseas. Widely recognised across the public, private, education sectors, and civil society, ICDL internationally recognised digital skills certifications ensure learners are equipped with digital competencies aligned to the global standards.

As part of this partnership, FITI will implement targeted awareness campaigns, certify instructors, and deliver high-quality training programmes to provide widespread access to ICDL certifications. This initiative aligns with Bhutan’s broader goals of fostering a knowledge-driven society and equipping its workforce with future-ready digital skills.

Through this collaboration, ICDL Asia and FITI aim to strengthen Bhutan’s digital ecosystem, support economic growth, and create new opportunities for individuals to succeed in an interconnected world.
