Bangkok, 5 August 2025 – The Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT), in partnership with ICDL Thailand, has officially launched the ECOT Digital Academy alongside the International Digital Employer Recognition (IDE Recognition) programme. This strategic initiative is designed to support private-sector organisations across Thailand in preparing their workforce for the digital economy by cultivating digital skills that meet international standards in a systematic manner.

The launch event was held at the ICDL by Adeptus International Test Center, with Mr Eksit Khunnantakul, President of ECOT, and Dr Hugh O’Connell, Managing Director of ICDL Thailand, jointly announcing the partnership. Also in attendance were Mr Damien O’Sullivan, CEO of the ICDL Foundation, and Ms Tina Wu, CEO of ICDL Asia, who travelled to Thailand to endorse and witness this landmark collaboration.
Key stakeholders and advisors, including Mr Bowornsak Klanghan and Mr Siripong Intavadee Advisors to ECOT , Ms Kritkanya Karnchirathan, Executive Director of ICDL Thailand, and Ms Melada Sreenual, Deputy Managing Director of Adeptus Digital Corporation Co., Ltd., which operates the ICDL by Adeptus Test Center, were present to lend their support.

The initiative aims to encourage Thai employers to prioritise the development of digital skills among their employees, both at a policy level and through practical application. It focuses on fostering a sustainable transformation — progressing from merely utilising technology towards systematically building digital capabilities that meet global standards. Furthermore, the programme aligns with national objectives to harmonise workforce skillsets with increasing wage expectations.
The International Digital Employer Recognition (IDE Recognition) will be awarded to organisations that demonstrate well-established policies and practices for developing their employees’ digital competencies. Criteria include training in fundamental digital skills for the contemporary workplace, certification based on the international ICDL standard, integration of digital technologies within work processes, and the promotion of continuous learning within the organisation.
Recipients of the IDE Recognition certification will gain enhanced credibility with business partners and clients by evidencing a digitally competent workforce aligned with international standards. In addition, certified organisations will benefit from media exposure across ECOT and ICDL’s national, regional and international communication platforms. They will also be granted access to expert forums, collaboration networks, and recognition as leaders in digital workforce development.
Applications for the IDE Recognition programme will open on 8 August 2025. Interested organisations may apply via the ECOT website or the official LINE account: ECOT Digital Academy (@ecotdigitalacademy).
This initiative marks a significant milestone for Thailand’s private sector, reinforcing the critical role of employers in driving national progress through a digitally proficient workforce. It underscores a commitment towards building a resilient, future-ready business landscape of the highest quality.
