Malaysian Educators Empowered with ICDL Image Editing Skills Through Pakar Jauhari Digital 2025 Programme

Malaysia, August 2025 — The Pakar Jauhari Digital 2025 Programme, an initiative by the Bahagian Profesionalisme Guru under Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (Teacher Professionalism Division under the Ministry of Education), aims to strengthen the digital competencies of educators nationwide in supporting Malaysia’s commitment towards integrating digital tools in teaching and learning. Over 200 participants from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya, Kedah, Melaka, Terengganu, Sabah, and Sarawak participated in the programme. This initiative offered training and the internationally-recognised ICDL certification in essential digital skills, specifically the Image Editing module, which equips educators with practical capabilities to produce enhanced visual content for improved classroom engagement.

Delivered by the Malaysian Bumiputera Training Providers Association (MBTA), an ICDL Accredited Test Centre, the Image Editing module provides educators with essential concepts that underpin digital imaging and builds their confidence in using image editing applications through techniques for creating, editing, and managing digital images.

Educators also gained hands-on experience working with different image formats and learned best practices for creating high-quality visuals to enrich their teaching materials and presentations. These skills contribute to more impactful learning experiences in the classroom, besides increasing their productivity.

Launched in May 2025 with its first cohort covering the Central Region of Malaysia, the programme continued its nationwide rollout with a further 5 cohorts between June to August. This enabled educators from various schools, from rural to urban, covering demographics that vary across the different states of Malaysia, to benefit from structured, skills-based training aligned with global standards, thus raising the overall quality of digital education in the country.

Reflecting on his learning experience, Wong Siao Lung, an educator from the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor session, shared: “The instructor explained concepts clearly with practical examples that made them easy to understand. The hands-on approach allowed me to immediately practice what I learned, which reinforced my skills. The course materials were comprehensive and easy to follow. I feel more confident now in creating professional-looking designs for both personal and work projects.”

Ms Siti Mariam, an ICDL-Certified Trainer who led the 6 workshop sessions, praised the commitment of the participants: “Although the test was challenging, the participants showed great resilience and determination. With proper preparation and support, they performed well and completed the test confidently.”

Ms Shuhada from the Ministry of Education echoed this sentiment: “This ICDL programme has greatly helped teachers, especially in enabling them to edit images professionally. This supports them in creating effective teaching and learning materials, which in turn helps students develop creativity in line with today’s digital environment.”

ICDL is proud to collaborate with the Malaysian Bumiputera Training Providers Association (MBTA) to support the Pakar Jauhari Digital 2025 Programme in empowering Malaysian educators with essential digital skills. Through our internationally recognised certification programmes, we are confident that these newly developed competencies will enhance their teaching quality, foster innovation, and ultimately equip young learners with the skills needed to thrive in today’s digital world.
