KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – ICDL Asia is delighted to share that Sunway TES, the Centre for Accountancy Excellence at Sunway College, has officially launched the Sunway TES EDGE initiative. Built upon real-world feedback from employers, Sunway TES EDGE comprises 4 elements designed to Evolve, Develop, Grow, and Empower students, with the aim of closing the employability gap by giving students a “skillset reset”.
ICDL plays a key role in the Develop component that nurtures digital innovation, whereby students will undergo 3 modules, namely Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics, and Financial Spreadsheets. Students will also have the option of taking additional ICDL modules.
ICDL Accredited Test Centre, iScholar Sdn Bhd (part of the Metropolitan Corridor group of companies) will be the implementing partner for ICDL programmes in collaboration with Sunway College.
At the launch, Ms Low Sze Jein, Sunway TES EDGE Lead, defined the initiative’s mission: “Sunway TES EDGE is a holistic talent incubator that builds both the person and the professional. The 4 components are not just based on theory, but built through action, feedback, and reflection.”
Prof Teo Ee Sing, Managing Director of Sunway College, highlighted that while over 12,500 students have successfully graduated from Sunway TES thus far, the Sunway TES EDGE initiative serves to provide a distinct edge to further boost its students’ capabilities, thus meeting the needs of employers in today’s highly competitive job market.
Prof Teo also emphasised the importance of aligning students’ skills with the culture of innovation at accounting firms, and highlighted ICDL’s role as an internationally recognised certification in complementing the professional accountancy qualifications achieved by Sunway TES students.
The Sunway TES EDGE initiative will be made mandatory for all Sunway TES students commencing from the July 2025 intake, with ICDL modules implemented in the 3rd semester of their academic programmes. ICDL is proud to collaborate with Sunway College, a leading private higher education institution, to promote the advancement of digital skills in Malaysia.
