Bhutan, 10 December 2025 – In a significant move to promote digital literacy and skills development among Bhutanese youth, Scan–Bilt Pte. Ltd. has announced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnership to sponsor 85 rural students annually for the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge in 2026 and 2027. Facilitated by the Bodhi Media and Communications Institute (BMCI), this initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and provide rural students with meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth in the digital space.
Recognised as one of the leading digital student competitions in the Asia-Pacific region, the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge is designed to enhance students’ digital skills and competencies. Since its launch in 2017, it has engaged more than 52,000 students from 800 schools across 18 countries. The competition focuses on practical digital skills, including emerging technologies, digital design, and essential office applications—equipping students with competencies relevant to education, further studies and future careers.
“This support will boost our rural students’ confidence and empower them to pursue educational and career goals in the digital age, helping to bridge the digital divide. Ultimately, it benefits not only the students but also their communities by fostering a culture of innovation and learning with lasting impact,” said Pushpa Chhetri, Director of BMCI. This partnership with Scan–Bilt marks a monumental step toward ensuring that talented students in Bhutan gain equal access to the digital tools and skills they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
Under this collaboration, 85 students will be selected each year to receive full sponsorship to participate in the competition. Students will have access to ICDL learning materials according to their respective tracks, and training sessions will be conducted at their schools for greater accessibility and convenience. Those who successfully complete the certification will receive the internationally recognized ICDL Certification. High-performing students will also have the opportunity to advance to the National Round and compete in the Grand Final, showcasing their skills on a broader platform. Winners in each category will be awarded gold, silver, or bronze trophies and receive digital certificates of participation in recognition of their achievements.
This partnership with Scan-Bilt underscores the importance of collaboration in advancing quality digital education. As digital inclusion becomes increasingly vital in today’s economy, initiatives like this highlight the potential of cross-sector partnerships to empower young talent. We look forward to working closely with Scan-Bilt and BMCI to ensure that Bhutanese students gain internationally recognized digital skills and meaningful exposure throughout their digital learning journey. This sponsorship represents a vital step in equipping rural students with the skills needed to thrive in the digital era, enhancing their prospects while contributing to Bhutan’s broader goal of building a digitally literate society prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
