Singapore National Digital Explorer (NDE) 2026 Marks Fifth Consecutive Year of Empowering Students with Future-Ready Digital Skills

The Singapore National Digital Explorer (NDE) 2026 returns for its fifth consecutive year as a flagship digital literacy initiative, reaffirming its commitment to equip students with essential, future-ready digital skills. Jointly organised by Crescent Girls’ School and ICDL Asia, the nationwide programme continues to support students aged 9 to 18 in developing practical digital competencies that strengthen critical thinking, productivity, and confidence in an increasingly digital world.

Aligned with MOE Singapore’s EdTech Plan

Aligned with the Ministry of Education (MOE) Singapore’s EdTech Plan, NDE 2026 is a Student-Initiated Learning (SIL) initiative designed to build practical proficiency in office productivity tools, online collaboration, and emerging digital technologies. Through a structured and progressive learning framework, the programme supports schools in nurturing digitally capable learners who are well prepared for academic demands and future career pathways.

Strong Participation and Growing National Impact

NDE has received strong support from schools and parents across Singapore since official launch in 2022. To date, more than 50,000 students from over 100 schools have participated in the programme, underscoring the growing recognition of internationally recognised digital certification as a valuable foundation for academic and career readiness.

Building Essential Digital Competencies through the Learn Track

Through the NDE Learn Track, students gain access to ICDL eLearning modules that enable them to develop essential digital knowledge and skills at their own pace. This self-directed learning approach allows students to progressively build a strong foundation in digital productivity and effective technology use, supporting both independent learning and classroom application.

Achieving Internationally Recognised Digital Certification

Students are encouraged to further advance their learning through the Certify Track by taking the ICDL certification tests upon completing each eLearning module. Those who successfully pass the certification test will be awarded the internationally recognised ICDL Certificates, validating their digital proficiency and strengthening their academic portfolios and future employability prospects.

In addition to the certification, certified students may also get the chance to progress to the NDE 2026 National Round under the Certified and Compete Track, a national competition jointly organised by Crescent Girls’ School and ICDL Asia. Outstanding students across the Primary, Secondary, and Junior College categories will also gain the opportunity to further represent Singapore at the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2026 Grand Final, competing with peers from across the Asia-Pacific region.

Last year, 12 Singapore students were qualified for the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge Grand Finals, securing Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards across Primary and Secondary categories. This strong performance highlights the programme’s consistent impact in nurturing young digital talent and reinforcing Singapore’s digital capabilities in the regional competition.

Marking its fifth year, the National Digital Explorer continues its commitment to empowering students with future-ready digital skills. Schools nationwide are invited to join this impactful initiative to help students strengthen their essential digital competencies for success in an increasingly digital world.
