Indonesia, 22 January 2026 – Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming education, offering educators innovative ways to enhance teaching, assessment, and student engagement. To support teachers in applying AI effectively, a one-hour webinar titled “Future Education with AI” was conducted for 30 participants from Ikatan Guru Indonesia (IGI) Kota Bogor, a leading teachers’ association focused on enhancing professional, pedagogical, social, and personal competencies.
As part of a monthly webinar series for educators hosted by ICDL Accreditation Consultant EduSpaze, the session aimed to help teachers understand how AI can impact their daily teaching and learning responsibilities. Participants were introduced to practical ways in which AI can support various tasks, including curriculum development, lesson planning, student engagement, assessment and feedback, inclusive teaching practices, and administrative duties. The webinar also addressed the limitations of AI, encouraging educators to consider ethical issues such as bias, and to critically evaluate the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated content.
The session was led by Dr Frank Arokiasamy, Founder and Principal Trainer & Consultant of FA Rock Global, an ICDL Accredited Test Centre, who shared practical strategies for integrating AI concepts across subjects such as mathematics, history, and geography. Educators explored techniques including writing and structuring effective prompts in using generative AI, lesson planning, creating graphics and e-books, and developing assignments and rubrics with the support of AI tools.
During the webinar, Mr Nigel Ngiam, Market Development Manager at ICDL Asia, emphasised the importance of digital skills for productivity and employability. He also shared how ICDL supports schools in developing globally recognised digital and AI competencies for both educators and learners.
Looking ahead, ICDL Asia will continue to support similar initiatives alongside our partners, thus helping more educators and institutions across the Asia Pacific region to develop globally recognised digital and AI literacy to empower teaching and learning.
The ICDL ICT in Education module, now with AI supplementation, covers the usage of AI across key competencies such as lesson planning, preparing classroom resources (e.g. quizzes, graphic organisers, projects and simulations), evaluation (e.g. rubric generation, feedback generation, analysing student data), social tools (e.g. facilitated discussions, inclusion/equity for Special Education Needs), as well as student support (e.g. tutoring assistance, student wellbeing / mental health, career coaching).
The ICDL Artificial Intelligence module dives further into the potential of AI. It covers the key principles that underpin AI, such as machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning, as well as their evolution in recent years. It also expands the utility of AI beyond Education, looking into its social and economic impact across multiple sectors in industry. Common examples used daily by individuals and organisations include data mining, image recognition, natural language processing and large language models (LLMs), as well as decision-making.
