ICDL Asia launches new AI Literacy Programme to Support National Digital Competency Framework in Vietnam

Singapore, 18 March 2026 – ICDL Asia announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at strengthening Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy among students in Vietnam. The initiative introduces a structured set of ICDL AI modules designed to support the implementation of Vietnam’s Digital Competency Framework for Learners.

The announcement was made during the ICDL Asia Launch Event held at the Embassy of Ireland in Singapore, highlighting ongoing collaboration between ICDL and Vietnam’s education sector in advancing digital skills and AI literacy.

The event was attended by distinguished guests including Mr. Frank Feighan, Minister of State of Ireland, and Her Excellency Sarah McGrath, Irish Ambassador to Singapore, alongside His Excellency Tran Phuoc Anh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Singapore

The event was also attended by representatives from ICDL Vietnam and EMG Education, including Mr. Truong Quoc Hung, Chairman of ICDL Vietnam and Chairman of EMG Education, and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Lan, CEO of EMG Education

Representing ICDL, the event was attended by Mr. Damien O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of ICDL Foundation, and Ms. Tina Wu, Chief Executive of ICDL Asia, together with other representatives from ICDL and regional partners.

“AI is a transformative force, but it must be built on a strong foundation of digital competence. We cannot develop an AI-ready economy without ensuring learners have mastered essential digital skills. Through certification, we can ensure these competencies are recognised and valued,” said Mr. Damien O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of ICDL Foundation

The initiative supports the development of AI literacy across multiple stages of education, enabling students to build foundational understanding of artificial intelligence and its applications. By introducing structured learning pathways aligned with national standards, the initiative aims to strengthen digital competencies and prepare students for future learning and career opportunities.

Fully aligned with Vietnam’s Digital Competency Framework for Learners, the initiative reflects ICDL Asia’s continued commitment to working with ministries, schools, and partners across the region to strengthen digital skills development.

By supporting the development of AI literacy among students, the initiative contributes to nurturing a new generation of learners equipped with the knowledge and confidence needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
