CWA Changshu Joins ICDL as First International School in Suzhou, Reflecting Growing Adoption Across China

CWA Changshu, the first international school in Suzhou to adopt ICDL, has joined ICDL Asia’s growing network of partner schools, marking a significant step in elevating access to internationally recognised digital skills education in the region.

Located in Changshu, Suzhou, CWA Changshu is an international school built by UWC Changshu’s founding team, and also a sister school to UWC Changshu. It offers International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and the UWC+ experience to the Chinese students. The school’s adoption of ICDL reflects its dedication to equipping students with globally recognised digital competencies and preparing them for an increasingly digital world.

CWA Changshu has begun its implementation of ICDL courses in 2026 by providing the Application Essentials module to the entire cohort of Grade 7 students as part of their academic programme. As a result, students are provided with a structured pathway to develop and certify their hands-on skills to operate all of the most common software applications, supporting their academic progression as well as future readiness.

“CWA is committed to cultivating students’ digital literacy and future-ready competencies in authentic and diverse learning contexts. We are delighted to partner with ICDL, leveraging its internationally recognised standards to empower students to enhance their information processing skills, critical thinking, and creativity through hands-on learning,” said Ms. Isabel Xu, Principal of CWA Changshu

“ICDL not only validates students’ digital competencies, but also connects them to a truly international network of quality academic institutions. We are pleased to welcome CWA Changshu to the ICDL community and wish its students every success in their digital learning journey,” said Ms Tina Wu, Chief Executive of ICDL Asia

This adoption of ICDL reflects a growing recognition among international schools of the importance of structured, certifiable digital skills frameworks that provide measurable and transferable competencies. By embedding ICDL within its curriculum, CWA Changshu is further strengthening its approach to preparing students for an increasingly digital and interconnected world.

ICDL Asia continues to support a growing network of international schools across China and has the know-how and experience to seamlessly integrate with all popular international curriculums such as IB, IGCSE, pre-A Level, etc. In aggregate, ICDL have enrolled hundreds of students across international schools in the last three years, supporting their development of digital competencies through structured and internationally benchmarked learning.

ICDL Asia will continue to support its partners in expanding access to high-quality digital skills education, reinforcing its commitment to developing digitally competent learners across the region.
