Nanjing, China, 16 April 2026 – The ICDL Digital Literacy and AI Application Teacher Training programme for vocational schools in Nanjing has officially commenced, marking a significant step in strengthening digital competencies and advancing the integration of artificial intelligence in vocational education. 

In collaboration with the Nanjing Vocational Education (Adult) Teaching and Research Office and ICDL China, the initiative brings together vocational educators across the city to participate in a structured training programme aligned with internationally recognised digital skills standards. The programme aims to support teachers in developing essential digital competencies and enhancing their readiness to integrate AI and digital technologies into teaching and learning. 

The official launch was hosted by Mr. Qin Wei, Deputy Director of the Nanjing Vocational Education (Adult) Teaching and Research Office, who highlighted the importance of the programme in supporting teachers to deepen their digital competencies and enhance future teaching practices. 

The training programme combines digital literacy development with practical exposure to AI applications, providing educators with a structured learning pathway supported by ICDL certification. Through this approach, participants are able to build and validate their digital competencies while applying them more effectively within classroom settings. 

Representing the educators, Ms. Zheng Ziyan, Teacher from Jiangsu Nanjing Engineering Higher Vocational College, shared that the programme offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen both core digital skills and emerging AI knowledge, supporting teachers in enhancing classroom effectiveness and addressing evolving learning needs. 

The launch event concluded with remarks by Mr. Zhang Hong, Director of the Nanjing Vocational Education (Adult) Teaching and Research Office, who emphasised the importance of integrating digital competencies into teaching practice and encouraged participants to apply their learning to support curriculum development and alignment with international standards. 

Building on the success of previous ICDL initiatives, the programme continues to support educators in achieving internationally recognised certification and translating learning outcomes into teaching practice. This contributes to curriculum enhancement and closer alignment with global standards in vocational education. 

The launch of this programme reflects the growing emphasis on digitally enabled education systems across the region. By supporting educators in developing relevant and transferable digital skills, ICDL continues to work with partners in strengthening the quality and impact of vocational education in the digital era.
