Bangkok, Thailand — The Bureau of TVET Personnel Competency Development, Ministry of Education, together with the Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (TPQI) and ICDL Thailand, have launched an initiative to strengthen AI competencies among vocational educators through internationally recognised ICDL certification standards.
The programme brings together IT vocational education teachers from across Thailand to participate in an intensive training programme focused on AI literacy, practical AI applications, and responsible AI adoption. Designed to support the growing integration of AI technologies within education and the workplace, the initiative aims to equip educators with the knowledge and skills required to effectively utilise AI tools while promoting ethical and responsible practices.

As part of the programme, participants undergo structured training with ICDL AI Essentials, covering topics such as Generative AI, AI tools, AI agents, and AI governance. Upon successful completion, participants will receive ICDL e-Certificates, with certification outcomes linked to TPQI’s E-Workforce Ecosystem Platform, supporting the recognition of professional competencies within Thailand’s national qualification framework.
Beyond individual professional development, the initiative aims to create a broader impact across Thailand’s vocational education system. As technology educators and mentors within their institutions, participants are well positioned to share knowledge, promote best practices, and introduce practical AI applications to students and fellow educators, helping to nurture future-ready talent for an increasingly digital and AI-driven economy.
As a continuation of their professional development journey, selected educators will have the opportunity to participate in the ICDL Asia Digital Educators’ Awards, where they can demonstrate innovative approaches to integrating AI and digital technologies into teaching and learning. By recognising and sharing best practices, the programme further encourages educators to inspire their peers and contribute to the advancement of digital education both nationally and across the region.

The programme also reflects growing collaboration between education institutions, professional qualification bodies, and international certification providers in supporting Thailand’s workforce development priorities. By aligning internationally recognised AI competency standards with national qualification frameworks, the initiative contributes to the development of future-ready talent equipped with both technical capabilities and a strong understanding of AI governance and responsible technology adoption.
Through initiatives as such, ICDL remains committed to empowering educators with internationally recognised digital competency standards and emerging technology skills, enabling them to confidently integrate AI into teaching and learning while promoting responsible technology adoption among students. By equipping TVET educators with the knowledge and capabilities needed for the AI-driven era, this initiative supports Thailand’s national efforts to develop a future-ready workforce and foster a digitally capable society that is prepared to meet the evolving needs of the economy.
