Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam — FA Rock Global Sdn Bhd, an ICDL Accredited Test Centre (ATC) focused on workforce development and digital skills advancement, has introduced ICDL certification and training in Brunei.
This initiative expands access to internationally recognised digital skills standards, and supports the development of a digitally competent workforce, aligned with the recent launch of Digital Brunei 2030: The Digital Brunei Transformation Plan, a five-year national plan setting the country’s direction for digital growth through to 2030, through unified collaboration across government, businesses, and society.
Recognising the growing importance of digital competencies and emerging technologies in today’s workplace, the programme provided structured digital skills training and certification opportunities for government officials, professionals, students, and members of the public.
As part of this implementation, FA Rock Global successfully delivered Brunei’s first ICDL AI programme on 20-21 April 2026. The programme introduced participants to key artificial intelligence concepts and practical applications, combining hands-on learning with an internationally benchmarked assessment. Among the key competencies covered include:
- The underlying principles of AI (machine learning, neural network, deep learning) and steps in its evolution, including generative AI and agentic AI
- Utilising AI in organisations and society, through applications such as data mining, image recognition, natural language processing, and decision-making
- Recognising the limits of AI such as bias, misinformation, and hallucination, as well as ethical considerations around its usage such as data privacy and security risks
- The implications of AI across different sectors of workforce, and best practices on how AI can be implemented in specific roles and scenarios
- The social, economic, and environmental impacts of AI, as well as the importance of applying critical thinking in AI literacy to ensure AI outputs are responsibly reviewed before using or sharing

The programme attracted participants from diverse professional backgrounds who were seeking to strengthen their digital fluency and gain a deeper understanding of emerging technologies. Participants responded positively, demonstrating strong engagement throughout the training, and achieving a 100% pass rate in the ICDL AI certification.
Many also welcomed the opportunity to validate their knowledge via certification, while applying their learning through project-based activities. This successful implementation reflects the growing interest in digital and AI literacy in Brunei, and highlights the value of learning pathways that enable individuals to develop practical, future-proof skills for productivity and employability.
Through its partnership with ICDL Asia, FA Rock Global plans to continue expanding its digital skills training and ICDL certification programmes “Together Towards a Digital Brunei”, thus empowering citizens and businesses in driving impact for today’s digital economy. This is underpinned by the country’s strategic plans in Digital Government, Digital Society, and Digital Business, as well as a core pillar of Data & Artificial Intelligence.
ICDL Asia will continue to work closely with its partners, towards sustainable capacity building, both locally and regionally, through access to its programmes that are valued by employers and educational institutions worldwide. Together, we hope to contribute towards Brunei’s digital growth, supported by strategic policies, and action-oriented initiatives that deliver real impact, built on trusted services, inclusive access, and continuous innovation.
