Singapore, July 23, 2026 – The National Digital Explorer (NDE) 2026 competition has concluded with remarkable success. Jointly organised by Crescent Girls’ School and ICDL Asia, this nationwide digital literacy initiative aimed to empower Singaporean students aged 9 to 18 with real-world digital skills, fostering critical thinking and enhancing their productivity as learners in the digital realm.  

NDE 2026 provided an excellent platform for students to gain valuable experience, network with peers, and showcase their digital proficiency at a national level. The competition featured several tracks, including the Business Track and Emerging Technologies Track, to strengthen students’ digital literacy and technological skills.  

Entering its 5th year, the NDE programme continues to inspire and empower over 10,000 students, and more than 3,000 students also participated in the preliminary round of the competition. From these, over 100 top-performing students advanced to represent their schools in the National Round, held on 23 July 2026 at Crescent Girls’ School.  

Since its inception, the programme has reached over 60,000 students from more than 100 schools across Singapore, highlighting its growing impact in promoting essential digital skills among students. 

The Business Track required primary-level students to master digital skills in Documents and Presentation, while secondary and junior college-level students focused on Advanced Presentation and Management Spreadsheets.  

The Emerging Technologies Track offers students opportunities to develop a clear understanding of cutting-edge digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things.  

Empowering Educators with Practical AI Skills for Classroom 

In addition to the National Round competition for students, ICDL Asia also collaborated with James Cook Institute to deliver a dedicated AI for Educators Workshop for Singapore MOE Primary, Secondary, and Junior College teachers during the NDE. Conducted by Mr Chia Kee Tong, the workshop aimed to equip educators with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in leveraging Generative AI to enhance teaching, learning, and classroom engagement. 

The workshop covered key topics including Introduction to Generative AI, Prompt Engineering Essentials, Classroom Applications, and Responsible AI Practices which educators get to explored how AI can be used to develop lesson plans, worksheets, quizzes, assessment rubrics, and differentiated learning materials, while also gaining a deeper understanding of data privacy, copyright, and academic integrity. Through this initiative, we aim to support educators in embracing emerging technologies and building AI readiness in the education sector.
