Malaysian Primary School Trailblazing in Digital Skills Education

Recognising the critical importance of digital skills in today’s rapidly evolving world, Al-Amin Darul Musthofa School (AADMS) and ICDL Asia formed a strategic partnership in 2021 to integrate ICDL modules into the school’s academic curriculum.
The initiative began with a teacher training session in early 2021, laying a solid foundation for the comprehensive rollout of ICDL programmes for students.
A tailored pathway, featuring ICDL Smart Digital and Application Essentials modules, was incorporated into classroom lessons for Primary 1 to Primary 4 students. This ensures students develop strong digital literacy competencies that are further enriched through supplementary ICT activities and programs.
AADMS has since recognised the significant benefits of implementing ICDL, particularly the strength of the learning outcomes and the competency-based task items covered in the syllabus, as well as the structured and quality-assured certification test environment. Both these elements align with the school’s goals of driving digital transformation and fostering internationalisation.
ICDL modules and certification not only help schools advance their digital goals but also support broader internationalisation efforts.
With the highly effective digital literacy programme now in place, AADMS continues to enhance its students’ educational experiences through the successful implementation of ICDL. Looking ahead, AADMS plans to introduce one of the following ICDL modules—Computing, Cybersecurity, or Artificial Intelligence—into its curriculum next year, further strengthening the digital expertise of its students.
