CEDF-Dell kickstarts 2nd year of “Upskilling Future Workforce for the Digital Economy” project


The 2022 CEDF-Dell “Upskilling Future Workforce for the Digital Economy” project meeting was held virtually on 17 March 2022 to mark the start of the second year of project implementation.

Representatives from 50 new vocational schools in Hubei, Guangdong and Ningxia provinces, etc. attended the meeting, which was presided by Mr. Zhao Lin, the Director of Vocational Education Teaching Resources Division of National Centre for Educational Technology (NCET).

Mr. Han Jun, Deputy Chief of NCET, Ms. Wang Rui, Director of China Education Development Foundation (CEDF), Ms. Jane Ma, CSR Manager of Dell Technologies, Ms. Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia, Mr. Yang Yanjun, Assistant Professor of Nanchang University, and Mr. Jiang Hong, Associate Professor of East China Normal University were among the distinguished guests of the event.

In the first year of implementation in 2021, this project has benefitted over 2000 students and 100 teachers from 50 vocational schools who have completed ICDL training and certification. 

In this second phase of this project, we expect to upskill another 100 teachers and over 2400 students in China in 2022.

Mr. Han Jun, Deputy Chief of NCET, shared in the meeting, “As we kickstart a new project year, I encourage all schools to integrate technology effectively in classroom teaching, and continue to model after best practices and gain valuable teaching experiences.”

During the meeting, Ms. Wang Rui, Director of CEDF introduced ICDL, and illustrated how the internationally recognised certification program improves local students and teachers’ digital skills.

She further elaborated on the effective cooperative model of this project. This project is sponsored by Dell Technologies, managed by CEDF and implemented by NCET. The cooperation between enterprises, social organisation and the government is a leading example for future educational public welfare projects.

Ms. Jane Ma, CSR Manager of Dell Technologies also shared, “Dell Technologies has a long-standing partnership with NCET. Through this project, we aim to improve the quality of vocational education in China and equip teachers and students with key digital competencies.”
