CEDF-Dell “Upskilling Future Workforce for the Digital Economy” Project Conference 2021

On 23 September 2021, the National Centre for Educational Technology (NCET) China organised the CEDF-Dell “Upskilling Future Workforce for the Digital Economy” Project Conference 2021.

To bridge the wide gap between the digital skills of the Chinese workforce and the demand of the workplace, Dell Technologies, and China Education Development Foundation (CEDF) launched the “Upskilling Future Workforce for the Digital Economy” Project as a corporate social responsibility project in China back in November 2020. This project was implemented by National Centre for Educational Technology (NCET) and supported by ICDL team in China.

The conference presented the performance and results of the CEDF-Dell CSR project from 2020 to 2021. It also provided a platform for experts and academics to share valuable insights on programme implementation and promoted the exchange of ideas.

As the world’s leading computer certification, we are pleased that over 2500 students and 100 teachers from 50 vocational schools have completed ICDL training and certification. To date, over 400 Dell supply chain workers have successfully completed the ICDL training and certification as well.

In addition, over 6000 employees from Dell China supply chain factories and 1000 vocational school students have completed ICDL short video courses targeted at equipping them with essential digital skills.

The conference was well attended by key stakeholders and representatives from NCET, CEDF, Dell, as well as project experts, vocational school principals and training teachers.

Ms. Wang Rui, Director, China Education Development Foundation
Mr. Wu Maqun, Former Dean, Beijing Information Technology College
Mr. Chen Mingxuan, Professor, Jiangnan University
Mr. Han Jun, Deputy Chief, National Centre for Educational Technology
Ms. Jane Ma, CSR Manager, Dell Technologies
Mr. Yang Yanjun, Assistant Professor, Nanchang University

At the end of the conference, NCET awarded outstanding vocational schools in recognition for their excellent performance in the promotion of digital literacy and implementation of ICDL programmes within their institutes.

At ICDL Asia, we look forward to our ongoing partnership with NCET, CEDF and Dell Technologies as we collaborate to upskill and uplift digital competencies of more vocational students, teachers, and supply chain workers in China in 2022.
