Employers’ Confederation of Thailand Partners with ICDL to Enhance Digital Competency for Employers and Employees in Thailand


Samutprakan, October 9, 2023 – Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT) and ICDL Thailand joined forces and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Sukanan Charoen Villa Building, marking a significant step toward equipping Thai businesses and workforce with essential digital skills required to thrive in the digital age. 

The MoU was signed by Mr. Ekasit Kunanantakul, President of ECOT, and Dr. Hugh O’Connell, Managing Director of ICDL Thailand to entail the collaborative efforts to achieve sustainable growth of digital standards in Thailand. 

The signing ceremony also brought together distinguished figures including Ms. Jullada Meejul, Acting Director General of TPQI, Mr. Supree Thongpetch, President of the Thai Small and Medium Enterprises Council. Ms. Kritkanya Karnchirathan, Executive Director, ICDL Thailand, Air Vice Marshal Professor Dr. Prasong Praneetpolgrang, Advisor to the Engineering Institute of Thailand, Ms. Siriwan Romchatthong, ECOT Secretary General, Dr. PuchissSricharoen, Senior Vice President, Thai Small and Medium Enterprises Council. 

In the opening speech, Mr. Ekasit emphasised ECOT’s commitment to leveraging this partnership to spread its vision across the nation. He stated, “ECOT would like to take this opportunity to express our intention through the mass media to all parts of the country aiming to synergise the potential and resources for the continuous development of organisations and the workforce to improve their competencies suitable for working in this era and achieve Thailand 4.0 with the 20-year national strategy and the digital development plan for the economy and society in terms of developing digital literacy.” 

In conclusion, the partnership between ECOT and ICDL is set to have a lasting impact on the nation’s economic and social development as it equips individuals and organisations with the digital ready skills required to excel in an increasingly digitised world.
