ICDL Asia Digital Challenge is back!
The ICDL Asia Digital Challenge is an annual competition designed for students across the Asia-Pacific region who are eager to showcase their digital skills in today’s fast-evolving digital economy. Since its inception in 2017, the competition has received overwhelming support, with over 39,000 students, 700 schools, and participants from 18 countries to date.
Focused on practical digital competencies, the competition equips students with essential skills relevant to their education, further studies, and future careers. With an emphasis on the global digital economy, participants will engage with emerging technologies, digital design, and essential office application tools, preparing them for real-world challenges.
Open to students in the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary categories, the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2025 fosters a collaborative learning environment while promoting digital proficiency across various educational levels. Building on the success of previous virtual and hybrid editions, the 2025 competition will be held virtually, ensuring accessibility to students across the region.

The competition is open to students from primary, secondary and tertiary schools in the Asia-Pacific region. Contestants should participate in the respective competition categories based on their national education level. The age range serves as a reference for the corresponding categories.
- Primary Level: Students aged 9 – 12 years old
- Secondary Level: Students aged 13 – 17 years old
- Tertiary Level: Students aged 18 – 25 years old
*Students aged 17 years old who are in Polytechnics or other vocational schools will fall under tertiary education.

*The final module selection for the National Round will be determined by the National Operators and appointed ATCs, who serve as the official organisers for each territory.
Round 1: Preliminary Round
Contestants are required to complete the module assigned to their respective tracks and levels. The top 2 contestants from each school/institution will be selected to proceed to the Grand Final Round.
Round 2: National Round
Contestants are required to complete the modules based on their respective tracks and levels. The top 2 contestants from each territory will be selected to proceed to the Grand Final Round.
Round 3: Grand Final Round
Contestants are required to complete the project based on the respective tracks. Project brief will be revealed to the Grand Finalist on 5 August. Winners from each track will be announced during the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge Award Ceremony.

Alex is the Managing Director of Spaze Ventures, a seed capital firm that focuses on investing in early stage technology startups, where he leads the investments and helps founders grow their startup. He also started EduSpaze, Singapore’s 1st edtech accelerator and is passionate about entrepreneurship, education and innovation. He has invested in more than 70+ startups, helped them grow, expand overseas and raise the next round of funding.
Alex has about two decades of experience from both the public and private sectors. He was previously the vice president of a regional fintech company that specializes in payment processing and consumer data, where he was responsible for regional business development and expansion into new markets. The company was subsequently acquired by Wirecard in 2014. Prior to that, Alex leads the enterprise technology team in Enterprise Singapore, where he specialized in the e-government and financial services clusters to help companies expand beyond the shores of Singapore. He received the MTI Borderless Award in 2010. Alex started his first business in 2002 and worked briefly as an engineer before joining a boutique investment firm, where he further developed his passion and commitment to help companies grow.
Alex is currently the President of Enterprise Singapore Society (EnterpriseSG Alumni) and also a Councillor of SGTECH. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a Master of Science (Technopreneurship & Innovation), both from Nanyang Technological University. He also attended University of Washington and the International Business Fellowship at University of Dubai.

Mr. Alvin Tan is the Director for Business Development and Academic Program for Asia Pacific, Mainstream Engineering, Siemens Digital Industries Software. Part of the Asia Pacific team that support the local Siemens teams to develop and grow Mainstream Engineering software business in the Asia Pacific countries like China, India, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia countries.
He is also responsible for the development and implementation of Solid Edge (part of Mainstream Engineering) software academic program and educational co-operation in Asia Pacific, working closely with the local academic institutions and educational partners to drive adoption of Solid Edge software in areas like Engineering, Creative Design, STEM education and Digitalisation.

Mr. Foo Wen Yeow has been a Chemistry educator for over 15 years at Crescent Girls’ School CGS) under the Ministry of Education. Beyond his passion for Chemistry, he is a firm believer in utilising technology in meaningful and creative ways to help students enjoy learning in the classroom. His enthusiasm in this area has seen him serve as the Subject Head of ICT for more than a decade in CGS which is one of the first few FutureSchools@Singapore that focuses on innovative approaches leveraging on ICT to bring about more engaged learning.
In addition to his contributions within the school, Mr. Foo has been actively sharing his experiences in managing educational technology with local and foreign visitors to the school. He has also worked closely with ICDL Asia, collaborating to organize the National Digital Explorer (NDE) since 2022. This initiative has successfully engaged more than 60 schools annually, reflecting Mr. Foo’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and educational excellence on a broader scale.

Mr. Gary Liew is an experienced mathematics educator who has taught at an international school and served as a curriculum developer at SIT University before joining Marshall Cavendish Education. He holds a BSc in Applied Mathematics from SIM Open University in Singapore.
Throughout his career, Mr. Liew has led the development of several Cambridge IGCSE series, including Core & Extended Maths, Additional Mathematics, and the ICT and Computer Science series. Currently, he oversees the Primary Digital Literacy Computing Series and the Cambridge AS & A Level Mathematics Series.
A passionate advocate for integrating ICT tools in education, Mr. Liew utilizes graphical tools such as Desmos, GeoGebra, and TI-Inspire in his teaching. He is also dedicated to imparting his knowledge to peers, fostering a collaborative learning environment, and sharing innovative ICT methods to enhance the educational experience for both students and fellow educators

George is an experienced leader in NGO and community economic development, with over two decades of strategic and program-level involvement in Canada and Malaysia. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Dragonfire Corporate Solutions Sdn Bhd, a Kuala Lumpur-based consultancy specializing in: Entrepreneur & NGO Development, Career Management, Continuous Adult Learning & Development and Business Communication & Creative Media.
Originally from Canada, George dedicated 20 years to the fields of Aboriginal community economic development and entrepreneur development, working at both strategic management and program delivery levels. His experience spans governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), where he held executive leadership positions at national, territorial, and regional NGOs active in advocacy for government policies and programs supporting Aboriginal economic development. Through Dragonfire Corporate Solutions, George continues to support NGO and entrepreneur development, offering tailored solutions in business management, learning and development, and communication.
George is also an accomplished English language proofreader, editor, and writer, regularly engaged in editing academic and professional content. His expertise spans business plans, proposals, government reports, speeches, and media scripts.

Hao Tan is a Senior Algorithm Engineer at ChipNet-AI, specializing in the development of artificial intelligence algorithms and intelligent systems. He has extensive experience in computer vision, audio analysis, and large-scale data processing, with a particular focus on applying cutting-edge AI models to real-world problems. Over the past decade, he has contributed to a wide range of research projects, including autonomous driving perception systems, multi-sensor intelligent monitoring systems, music recognition and education platforms, large language model–based question-answering systems, as well as other AI-driven solutions for smart hardware and industry applications.
In addition to his engineering work, Hao is actively engaged in AI education and outreach. He has led the design of an online course on artificial intelligence and interactive learning, helping beginners better understand the foundations of machine learning and the potential of intelligent technologies. By making AI concepts more approachable and practical, he aims to inspire curiosity and promote responsible innovation.

Kelvin currently works as a manager with Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) Centre for Micro-Credentials. He leads a dedicated team of Associate consultant/trainers in the areas of course development and Training, curating industry relevant Micro-Credential courses for various types of learners.
Kelvin held various academic positions in various academic institutions in Singapore in his earlier roles prior to joining SIM such as the being Programme Director for the Business School at Raffles Education Corp, managing the Business, Tourism and Hospitality school of about 500 students.
Kelvin has also headed the Curriculum Developing Team at ST Electronics (eSERV), managing augmented projects, providing educational and digital transformation consultation and courseware creation services to key clients from various Singapore Government ministries such as the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Ministry of Education (MOE) and Intellectual Development Authority (IDA).
Kelvin has extensive knowledge and experience in curriculum development, E-commerce implementation as well as pedagogic application to educational programmes and Instructional Design frameworks.

Ms. Lee Yee Fong has 20 years of experience in tertiary education and obtained her
Master’s degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at
the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Tunku Abdul Rahman
University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Malaysia. Throughout her
career, she has been actively involved in teaching, mentoring, and guiding students,
with a strong focus on equipping them with both academic knowledge and practical
skills to succeed in the digital era.
Ms. Lee has also pursued professional certifications to enhance her expertise in digital
skills and productivity tools. She has completed four modules of the International
Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), which are Cloud Computing, Online Collaboration,
Advanced Presentation, and Project Planning. It reflects her commitment to staying
relevant in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. In addition, she holds the
Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Associate certification.
Beyond her teaching role, Ms. Lee actively supervises final year projects, ensuring
that students gain valuable hands-on experience in innovation and problem-solving.
She is dedicated, passionate and continues to inspire learners to embrace technology
with confidence and creativity while contributing to the advancement of digital

Melissa Shahrom is an Associate Professor at the Department of Technology and Supply Chain Management Studies, Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Selangor, Malaysia. She received a Bachelor (Hons.) in Information Technology (Networking) from Universiti Utara Malaysia, a Master of Science in Information Technology from UiTM, Malaysia and was awarded a PhD in Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She was a member of the Ambient Spatial Intelligent Interest Group (AmSI) in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering at the University of Melbourne and her research and teaching focus is on information security risk management, information systems and technology management. She is currently a member of the Information Systems Association (AIS) and Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT). Melissa has also carried out several research collaborations and consulting projects with several government and private agencies in Malaysia and universities abroad. She is also committed to the ongoing improvement of digital literacy education. This could involve staying up-to-date with the latest digital tools, trends and pedagogical strategies and making adjustments to the curriculum as needed to keep it relevant and effective.

Murphy is a seasoned professional with over ten years of experience in data analytics and machine learning. His expertise lies in leveraging data for business outcomes and creating data-driven solutions. He has extensive experience in tertiary institutions, understanding curriculum planning and learning platforms.
Throughout his career, he has held various roles in corporate and academia, including senior management and board memberships. His work in data refinery and analytics has earned industry recognition. Currently, he is researching in areas like ethics of AI, generative AI, and Computational Social Science.
He lectures at several universities in the ASEAN region and is an adjunct at Singapore Management University. His experiential learning case studies have won multiple teaching awards. Murphy has authored and co-authored many articles and served on review boards.
His consulting experience is extensive across different sectors. He holds a DProf degree and adult learning trainer qualifications.

His primary role involves working closely with product development and partner teams in the ecosystem by providing technical and business development leadership and support to help businesses succeed in their digitalization journey. He also directs and mentors tertiary students during their internship at Siemens, ensuring that the new generation are well equipped to tackle the unique challenges of today.

Dr. Sharidatul Akma Abu Seman is a senior lecturer in the Department of Technology and Supply Chain Management Studies at the Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM Puncak Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Her academic expertise encompasses technology management, mobile health, ICT, and online learning. She has a robust background in teaching courses such as Research Methods, Digital Workforce, Data Warehouse, and End User Applications.
Dr. Sharidatul Akma Abu Seman is recognized for her innovative contributions, having participated in and won several international innovation competitions. Her expertise has also been acknowledged through her role as a jury member in various international IID events. She holds four ICDL badges (Application Essentials, Digital Marketing, Internet of Things, and Presentation) and has completed the Introduction to Generative AI from IBM SkillsBuild, showcasing her advanced skills in digital literacy and technology.

His academic and research interests focus on industrial engineering, business performance, lean practices, and digital transformation, with publications in international journals and policy contributions for Malaysia’s Industry 4.0 initiatives. Before entering academia, Dr. Tan built his professional career as a quality and process engineer at Bosch, where he gained extensive experience in supplier development, process improvement, and new product introduction. His combined industry and academic background enables him to bridge theoretical insights with practical applications, particularly in advancing organizational agility and digital innovation. Dr. Tan is also a Cisco Certified Academy Instructor, actively guiding students in network systems administration, digital technology adoption, and applied research. Through his leadership and expertise, he continues to contribute to nurturing talent and fostering innovation at the intersection of technology, management, and business transformation.

Ms. Theresa Chan has over 25 years of experience as an educator at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TARUMT). With this foundation, she bridges the gap between technology and business processes, equipping students with essential knowledge in enterprise systems, data analytics, and IT project management.
Beyond teaching, Ms. Theresa actively contributes to academic and industry-related events. She has served as a judge in various competitions, both within and outside the university, including the AI Horizon: AI Video Competition Challenge, Mind Competition, and the Computing Challenge organized by the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems at TARUMT.
