ICDL ASIA COLLABORATES WITH NANJING EDUCATION BUREAU TO IMPLEMENT ICDL IN 23 VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS

ICDL Asia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nanjing Vocational Education (Adult) Curriculum and Research Office (NVECRO) and Nanjing Educational Technology Centre (Nanjing Education Information Center or NETC) to meet the rising demand of proficient digital skills for vocational education students and teachers in Nanjing, China. This is also the first official MoU between ICDL Asia and Chinese government directly.

NVECRO and NETC are two offices directly managed by Nanjing Municipal Education Bureau.  Mr Pan Dongbiao, Deputy Director of Nanjing Municipal Education Bureau and Ms Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia, shared insights on the collaboration and future working plans at the signing ceremony on 29 October 2018.

ICDL certification programmes will be promoted and implemented in all the 23 Vocational Colleges in Nanjing to improve students’ digital application skills. This will also increase the adoption rate of internationally recognised Professional Qualification Certificate in the vocational schools, in line with the policy of Jiangsu Provincial Education Bureau.

From 2019 onwards, Nanjing Education Bureau will incorporate the ICDL curriculum into the official teachers’ training programme. ICDL modules have also been selected for the 13th Nanjing Vocational School Skills Competition.

ICDL Asia partner AMI has been appointed by both ICDL Asia and Nanjing Education Bureau to implement the project in Nanjing. First teachers training will commence in December 2018, in order to prepare for the launch of programme in the new semester in 2019.
