Ministry of Information & Communications Vietnam (MIC) has recently endorsed ICDL certification officially through a new qualification framework titled Decision 111/QD-BTTTT.
The new framework is valid for three years, commencing from 21st January 2020.
Under this framework, 5 ICDL modules met the standards of basic Information Technology skills according to the provisions of Circular 03/2014/TT-BTTTT in Vietnam. These 5 modules include Computer Essentials, Online Essentials, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Presentation.
Previously, MIC issued Framework Circular No.44/2017/TT-BTTT on 29th December 2017, providing regulations in the recognition of computer skills certifications issued by foreign organisations in Vietnam. The circular aimed to ensure these qualifications met the basic information technology skills standard.
The new framework adopted similar process of “syllabus review, IT system evaluation, then testing and certification issue process examination”, which is aligned with the corresponding content specified in Circular No. 03/2014/TT-BTTT. This sets ICDL to be the first and only international certification programme in the computer skills area in Vietnam, a new milestone for ICDL in Vietnam.
