21 May 2020 – ICDL Thailand signed an MOU with the Office of Private Education Commission (OPEC) of Ministry of Education Thailand, to jointly promote and support the online learning platform for schools nationwide. The MOU was signed by Mr Atthaphon Truektrong, Secretary of OPEC, and Dr Hugh O’Connell, Managing Director of ICDL Thailand.


Ministry of Education Thailand suggested that all schools must provide means to limit risks associated with the spread of the virus. In line with this policy, OPEC has developed an online learning platform to provide online education to the general public and all elementary and secondary students nationwide. ICDL Thailand will support the initiative by providing ICDL Workforce programme courses, which cover 2 levels of basic digital skills and include 5 key competencies. The level 1 ICDL modules selected are Computer Essentials and Online Essentials, which covers basic computer, ICT and web-browsing skills. Level 2 ICDL modules consist of: Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Presentation. The selected modules cover essential digital skills related to every-day office applications.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr Chainarong, Deputy Secretary of OPEC, Mr Chalam, Advisor Secretary of OPEC, Mr Viwat Phongsathorn, Managing Director of Professional Training Service Co. Ltd. and Ms Khun Kritkanyakan Jirathan, Executive Director of ICDL Thailand.
