ICDL VIETNAM SPEAKS AT A SEMINAR HELD BY THE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

Mr. Phạm Hoàng Cường, Director of ICDL Vietnam, delivered a speech in a seminar organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Communication and Information recently. The event themed, “New ICT skills required for the Fourth Industrial Revolution” took place on 28 December 2018 in Hanoi.

The objective of the seminar is to emphasize the importance of preparing Vietnam’s workforce for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0). The workforce plays a critical role in enhancing the nation’s overall growth. 

Discussions during the event were focused on the trends of vocational training as well as the workforce transformation in adapting to the technology transformation in Era 4.0

Mr. Cuong shared on how countries around the world successfully deploy new ICT skill set with ICDL. As the world’s leading computer skills certification, ICDL has been adopted and chosen by top academic institutions and companies worldwide.

One of the key factors contributing to ICDL’s global status is the great effort rendered by the team in creating new modules to keep up with the technology change to meet the global market demand.

From only 7 basic modules introduced in 1997, ICDL Foundation has more than 25 modules now suitable for a wide range of candidates at all levels. In 2017, ICDL Asia introduced 4 new modules including Digital Marketing, Computing, ICT in Education and Information Literacy.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, former Director of Centre for Informatics and Administration under The National Academy of Public Administration (one of the first colleges to deploy ICDL in Vietnam), agreed that the ICDL certification could help equip the workforce with pertinent digital skills needed for the Industry 4.0 in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, therefore proposed the Ministry of Information and Communications, along with Ministry of Home Affairs to renew its curriculums and set ICT skills as a compulsory criterion for civil servants including human resource department.

Deputy Head of the Department of Information and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuyen stated that the Ministry of Information and Communication had established Board of Appraisers for Circular No. 44/2017 and would soon announce official recognition of ICDL certification which meet all ICT skills stated in the Circular No.03/2014 and No.44 /2017.
