20 March 2019
The ICDL Foundation marked a new milestone today, as it inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Singapore Academy of Law to develop the first ICDL Professional Legal programme.
The agreement was endorsed by Ms Serene Wee, SAL’s Chief Executive of Law and Mr Damien O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of ICDL Foundation. The signing ceremony took place at The Fullerton Hotel (Singapore) and was witnessed by Ireland’s Minister of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Minister Heather Humphreys TD, Ambassador of Ireland to Singapore H.E. Ambassador Pat Bourne and Kevin Sherry, Executive Director, Enterprise Ireland.
This collaboration makes SAL the preferred global partner of the ICDL Foundation for the development and promotion of the ICDL Professional Legal programme. Three ICDL modules, namely Application Essentials, IT Security and Online Collaboration have been identified for contextualisation to suit the training needs of the legal profession. Four groups of learners have been identified for this programme: practising lawyers, in-house legal counsel, paralegals and law students.
The Legal programme will kick off in Singapore and will continue to be offered to other countries in the future. ICDL Asia will be responsible for the delivery of the programme through its selected Accredited Test Centres in Singapore.
