The ICDL Asia Digital Challenge – National Round for Malaysia took place at Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) last weekend.
Close to 30 students from 6 universities and University Colleges participated in the competition this year, including Malaysia’s top University – University of Malaya.
During the Award Ceremony, Ambassador Eamon Hickey, the Irish Ambassador to Malaysia delivered his speech and stressed on the importance of having an enhanced Digital Skills for students. These skills are highly recognised by the government organisations and companies in Malaysia as it is vital for the nation’s success in terms of improved productivity, profitability and growth.
Ambassador Hickey also commended TAR UC for being the first private university college in Malaysia to adopt and embed 4 ICDL modules into their Accounting diploma and degree programme starting this year in January. In March 2019, University of Malaya also became the first public university to offers ICDL programme in-campus for all students who are looking to add value to their degree programme in securing a career upon graduation.
These are the winners for both tracks for Malaysia’s National Round:
BUSINESS & FINANCE TRACK
1st Winner – Mothy Mitar, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)
2nd Winner – Tan Ser Swen, INTI International University College
3rd Winner – Tan Boon Yih, INTI International University College
DESIGN & ENGINEERING TRACK
1st Winner – Muhammad Taufiq Bin Zainuddin, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)
2nd Winner – Ahmad Luqman Hakim bin Mohd Mudrikah, Universiti Tenaga National (UNITEN Putrajaya)
These students will compete in the Grand Final Round in September.
