ICDL Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, during the State Visit to Vietnam of President of Ireland in 2016. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charles Flanagan TD, was also in attendance at the signing ceremony, which was organised by the Embassy of Ireland in Hanoi and Enterprise Ireland.
The MoU was signed by Director General of the ICT Department of Vietnam MOET, Mr Nguyen Son Hai, and CEO of ICDL Foundation, Mr Damien O’ Sullivan, in the presence of President Higgins.
The MoU outlines a closer collaboration between Vietnam’s MOET and ICDL Foundation in establishing a national ICT Framework for Vietnam. With a social mission of advocating digital literacy and strengthening the digital skills level for all, especially for students, ICDL Foundation welcomes this partnership with the Ministry to empower the current and future workforce of Vietnam. The collaboration also advances Vietnam’s integration into the ASEAN and international markets, where ICDL is the recognised standard for digital skills in the workforce.
The upskilling of digital literacy levels for Vietnam’s 22 million students will result in higher employability and advances in social development across Vietnam.
