The official signing ceremony between UMP Holdings (UMPH) and ICDL Asia to officiate the appointment of UMPH as ICDL’s newest Accredited Test Centre (ATC) took place earlier this week at UMP Holdings Commercial Complex in Gambang, Pahang.
UMPH is wholly owned by University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and its role is to participate in equitable partnership, joint ventures, and any other form of cooperation in order to vitalise the roles and activities of a university.
UMPH was represented by their Group CEO, Syed Mohamad Hamzah Al-Junid, while Damien O’Sullivan, the Chief Executive Officer of ICDL Foundation representing ICDL Asia.
UMP Holdings, through its subsidiary – UMP Training and Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. (UCT) will spearhead the initiative to improve the digital literacy among Malaysians, predominantly students It will also be targeted to the current workforce and professionals around the East Coast of Malaysia by offering multiple digital skills training and certification programme available under the ICDL standard module.
Apart from a mere business joint-venture, this initiative also serves as an impetus in facing the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0). This is especially critical in aiding the competitiveness as well as improving the calibre of the workforce and the nation’s economic development of Malaysia.
