Jan 2018 – SOS Children’s Village Philippines is successfully accredited as an ICDL Test Centre. SOS Children’s Village is a private, non-political, non-denominational organization that provides long-term family-based care to children in need.
Guided by the SOS Children’s Villages International Global 2030 Strategic Initiative 6 to “Create a simpler, agile and digital organization”, specifically to pilot the use of ICT in SOS families have been set to support the above-mentioned 2030 strategic goals.
SOS Philippines will be implementing one of its pillar project- Digital Village, to address the increasing digital divide between the SOS programme participants and the outside world. This project sought to address the need of limited or none-access to information and communication technology tools (such as computers, tablets, smart phones etc) to provide SOS children and young people the best chances to join the job market and become self-reliant through mastery in ICT technology.
The ICT Training will be first implemented in 2 Digital Villages in Lipa and Davao. This will be done in 2 Phases: Phase 1 will focus on capacity building of SOS caregivers and children beneficiaries to teach them on the basics of computer navigation and Office application tools. Phase 2 will focus on the young adult participants’ ICT skills and honing their employable skills through ICDL modules.
