Despite the ongoing challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to announce that two new Accredited Test Centres (ATCs) will be joining the ICDL family: SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh and SOS Children’s Villages Nepal.
SOS Children’s Villages is the world’s largest non-governmental organisation focused on supporting children without parental care and families at risk. As newly accredited ICDL test centres, children in Bangladesh and Nepal will benefit from ICDL’s myriad of certification programmes and be well-supported in their journey of digital transformation.
The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly accelerated digital transformation around the world, but it has also illuminated the issue of the growing digital divide.
To address the growing digital divide, SOS Children’s Villages has been leveraging technology to improve the lives of its community, such as providing access to the internet and digital technologies, enhancing digital literacy, and facilitating learning through e-learning and courses.
Most recently, SOS Children’s Village Nepal will be kickstarting its first ICDL digital certification programmes. Its pioneer batch of 104 candidates will undergo ICDL Workforce modules, such as Application Essentials, Computer & Online Essentials, Spreadsheets, Presentation, and Digital Marketing. These modules will equip its candidates with essential ICT skills to boost employability and productivity.
Moving forward, ICDL Asia strives to work closely with more NGOs to uplift the digital competency of students and working professionals.
