The University of Central Asia (UCA), School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) is partnering with the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic to provide a transformative opportunity for 1,500 civil servants from 16 ministries. This collaboration aims to enhance their digital literacy skills by offering comprehensive training and ICDL Certification.
Recognising the crucial role of digital literacy in the country’s progress, the partnership between UCA and the Ministry of Digital Development aims to empower civil servants with essential digital skills through the ICDL programme. The training will be conducted through a combination of online and offline modes to accommodate the diverse needs of the participants.
Moreover, this initiative also places a strong emphasis on gender inclusivity. Notably, 70% of the civil servants selected for the programme are women, reflecting a dedicated effort to empower women and promote gender equality in the digital sector.
Upon successful completion of the training, over 200 government employees who demonstrate proficiency will receive invitations to pursue the official ICDL certification, which is funded by the World Bank under the Digital CASA initiative. Participants will be certified in ICDL Computer and Online Essentials, Documents, Spreadsheets, and Presentation, providing them with a recognised credential in the digital sphere and validating their acquired skills.
The collaboration between UCA and the Ministry of Digital Development represents a shared commitment to bridging the digital divide and cultivating a digitally skilled workforce in the Kyrgyz Republic. By equipping civil servants with the necessary digital competencies, this partnership aims to enhance the government’s capacity to deliver efficient and innovative digital services, ultimately benefiting the entire population.
Digital CASA
Digital CASA (Central Asia South Asia) is a regional programme funded by the World Bank. Its objective is to increase access to more affordable internet, attract private investment in the sector, and enhance the participating government’s ability to provide digital government services in Central Asia and parts of South Asia. This is achieved through the development of a regionally integrated digital infrastructure and an enabling environment.
